Dr. Ansam Zaiber

Dr. Ansam Zaiber founded Gateway Smiles Dental Care with a vision of compassionate, personalized dentistry for families in the Fredericksburg area. With more than 25 years of clinical experience, Dr. Zaiber combines advanced training in restorative and cosmetic dentistry with a calm, patient-first approach. She is a certified Invisalign provider and has completed extensive continuing education in dental implants. Her practice is built on a simple promise: educate every patient, present every option honestly, and deliver the highest quality of care with warmth and respect.

Dr. Zaiber's path to dentistry began in Iraq, where she earned her first dental degree from Baghdad University in 1998. After moving to the United States, she completed Howard University's prestigious International Dentist Program — a rigorous program that requires established international dentists to retrain and recertify under American standards. She graduated in 2014 with awards in restorative dentistry, an honor reserved for the program's top performers.

Since opening Gateway Smiles Dental Care, Dr. Zaiber has focused on building the kind of practice she believes every patient deserves. That means thorough exams instead of rushed visits. Honest conversations about treatment options — including the option to do nothing. Conservative recommendations that prioritize your long-term oral health over short-term revenue. And the time and care needed to deliver every treatment to a high standard.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Zaiber is dedicated to continuing education, regularly attending courses on the latest advances in implant dentistry, cosmetic techniques, and patient comfort. She believes that the only way to provide great care is to keep learning, and that belief shows in the quality of work that leaves her practice.

Our Philosophy

Three principles guide everything we do at Gateway Smiles.

Prevention before intervention. The vast majority of dental problems are far easier to prevent than to treat. We invest the time at every visit to identify small issues before they become large ones, and we educate every patient on the home care that supports lifelong oral health.

Conservative when possible. When treatment is needed, we choose the least invasive option that delivers a predictable, lasting result. We do not recommend crowns when fillings will work, extractions when root canals can save the tooth, or aggressive procedures when conservative ones suffice.

Honest, even when it costs us business. We tell patients when treatment is not needed. We tell patients when a different specialist or office may be better for a particular case. We refer out for procedures that are outside our scope rather than push a marginal result. The trust we build through that honesty is worth far more than any single procedure.
